The Design Process

Our work depends on capturing the essence of your brand, work place or lifestyle. We will focus on that emotional connection and point-of-difference to spark our creative thinking and to guide every step of our process. Of equal importance is understanding how your space is used, studying traffic patterns and reviewing it from multiple perspectives.

We begin by taking a series of on-site photos. The digital photos of key areas are then stripped to bare walls so that a blank canvas sets the stage for open and creative thinking.

Kathy builds the proposed concept in Photoshop, so clients can view the design and color palette in layers. Those layers can then be turned “on and off” so the immediate differences of “before & after” can be seen.

Non-traditional materials are explored, such as steel pipes for shelving or applying roofing materials to a wall. Corporate signage or living area collages take on new dimensions when the expected becomes the unexpected.

A floor plan to scale is presented to show new traffic patterns and furniture placement.

A series of presentation boards are created to capture the essence of the new space, featuring paint colors, textures, and surfaces.

Client input along the way is expected and appreciated, as this process is as fluid and organic as is the environment being created.
